GENERAL INFORMATION - DEMOGRAPHICS
Germany has a population of 82 million inhabitants and is a member of the European Union (EU) and the European Board of Urology (EBU). More than 300 Urological Departments are operating all over the country. There are 14000 Urologists (1 urologist per 5,714 inhabitants) and estimated 1000 Residents.

At least 60 months of practical medical training. 48 months of urological training are a minimum requirement. Correspondingly, the following activities can alternatively be counted towards the total of 60 months: A maximum of 12 months in a surgical in-patient section, 6 months in another specialty (for instance gynaecology, paediatrics), a maximum of 12 months in ambulant patient care. Afterwards an oral examination has to be taken to become a board certified urologist.
Working as a clinical urologist, as a practitioner or in the industry. No prerequisites, only the urological exam.
